Police have apprehended three residents of Colombo's Narahenpita area for allegedly forging and selling documents required for vehicle registration.

Three suspects aged 39, 52, and 56 have been arrested by police in connection with a scheme to forge and sell vehicle registration documents. The individuals, all residents of the Narahenpita area in Colombo, were taken into custody following an investigation prompted by information received regarding illegal document production occurring near the Department of Motor Traffic.

During a raid on the suspects' premises, authorities recovered an array of materials used in the forgery operation. These included two revenue license application forms bearing the official letterhead of the Department of Motor Traffic, as well as multiple counterfeit rubber stamps designed to mimic those of the Department of Motor Traffic, a Justice of the Peace office, and a law firm. Police also seized photocopied identity documents that had been utilized in preparing forged certificates, along with copies of motor vehicle registration certificates that appeared to have been prepared for fraudulent purposes.

Additional items discovered at the location included file covers designed to replicate Department of Motor Traffic correspondence materials, suggesting a sophisticated operation aimed at producing convincing fraudulent documentation. The discovery of these materials indicates that the suspects had been engaged in creating falsified records that could potentially be used to circumvent legitimate vehicle registration procedures.
