Organized crime figure 'Summitpura Chathu' is providing information to authorities that has led to the recovery of multiple firearms since his extradition from Oman last month.

Kankanamage Dimuthu Chathuranga Perera, known by the alias "Summitpura Chathu," has been cooperating with investigators and providing details about concealed weapons following his arrest in Oman and subsequent return to Sri Lanka. The 28-year-old suspect, who fled the country to evade authorities, was extradited and arrived back in Sri Lanka on August 18. He is currently held in custody by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) under a detention order.

Investigations have yielded significant seizures of weaponry. Based on information provided during interrogation, authorities recovered a locally-manufactured revolver-type firearm from a deserted house in the Sedawatta area of Wellampitiya on August 21. In an earlier phase of the investigation, the CCD had already recovered a revolver and 12 rounds of live ammunition from a residence in the Mattakkuliya area, which investigators believe originated from abroad.

The CCD continues its investigation into the suspect's activities and the wider network associated with the confiscated weapons. The interrogation process remains ongoing as officers work to establish the full extent of the suspect's involvement in organized crime operations.
