A young child in the Murasumoddai area of Kilinochchi died following a tragic incident involving a parked tractor at a residential property.

A three-year-old child has died after being struck by a tractor in Kilinochchi's Murasumoddai area, according to police reports. The incident took place on the 21st when the child and a sibling were playing on the trailer of a stationary tractor at their home.

Police say that a relative started the tractor and began maneuvering it within the yard while the children remained on the trailer. During this operation, the child fell from the trailer and was run over by the rear wheel of the vehicle, sustaining critical injuries.

The child was transported to Kilinochchi District General Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The operator of the tractor has been taken into custody, and local police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
