Authorities have recovered a locally manufactured revolver from an abandoned house in Wellampitiya based on information provided by organized crime figure Dimuthu Chatura, who was recently extradited from Oman.
Police have recovered a locally manufactured revolver concealed in an abandoned residence in Sedawatta, Wellampitiya, following revelations made by organized criminal Dimuthu Chatura, commonly known as "Summitpura Chathu." The 28-year-old, who is currently in police custody, disclosed the location of the firearm during questioning.
Chatura, a resident of Mattakkuliya, was brought back to Sri Lanka on August 18th after an international manhunt. He had fled the country on March 22nd using a fraudulent passport and was located hiding in Oman, where a Red Notice had been issued for his arrest.
The criminal now faces multiple serious charges, including involvement in the murder of organized crime figure Ganemulla Sanjeewa, possession of a hand grenade, and drug trafficking offences. Police investigations into Chatura's criminal network and the circumstances surrounding the revolver's recovery remain ongoing.
