DFCC Bank held its Staff Cricket Sixes tournament at D. S. Senanayake College, bringing together 24 teams from branches and departments across Sri Lanka in a day that combined competitive cricket with relationship-building among colleagues.

Twenty-four teams representing various branches and departments of DFCC Bank competed in the Staff Cricket Sixes 2026 tournament held at D. S. Senanayake College. The teams arrived under colourful banners bearing names such as the Jaffna Strikers, Eastern Phoenix, Credit Hub Knights, HO Sharks, Southern Warriors, and Central Lions. The event featured an opening parade, National Anthem performance, and Bank Song before cricket matches commenced.

The tournament drew participants from across the island, with many employees departing early to represent their respective departments. According to organizers, the occasion provided an opportunity for colleagues who had primarily communicated through digital channels to meet in person for the first time. A notable feature of the competition was a requirement that each team include at least one female player, which the organizers highlighted as contributing to the event's energy and demonstrating that cricket ability transcended organisational hierarchy and gender.

A significant moment during the tournament came when Deputy CEO Shamindra Marcelline hit a final-ball six in an exhibition match between the Corporate Management Team and the Senior Management Team. Ramanayake Charges ultimately won the championship, while Credit Hub Knights finished as runners-up. The DFCC Welfare Association coordinated the event's logistics and execution.

Beyond the competitive results, the tournament reflected broader values emphasised by the bank, including collaboration and authenticity. Organisers noted that the day's most memorable moments extended beyond match outcomes, occurring instead in interactions between players, with spectators applauding opposition performances and teammates encouraging first-time participants throughout the competition.
