The body of an anesthesiologist from Badulla Teaching Hospital who had been reported missing was discovered in a forested area near Mahiyanganaya on Monday morning, following the location of his abandoned vehicle.
Authorities recovered the body of an anesthesiologist attached to Badulla Teaching Hospital during a search operation on Monday morning. The discovery came after police received information about a vehicle that had been left unattended near the Viyana canal in the Mapakada area, approximately 17 miles from a reference point.
The abandoned car, which belonged to the missing doctor, had been parked at the location since the previous night. Upon identifying the vehicle, residents and law enforcement personnel coordinated a search of the surrounding area. The search efforts led to the recovery of the doctor's body in a wooded region close to where the vehicle was found. Police also reported finding a packet of medicine near the body.
Mahiyanganaya Police confirmed the recovery and indicated that investigations into the circumstances of the death are currently underway. No further details regarding the cause of death or the identity of the deceased have been disclosed at this stage.
