Police have found an abandoned motorcycle believed to have been used in the shooting death of the mother of organized criminal 'Bako Saman' in the Matara district.
Authorities in the Urubokka Police division have recovered a motorcycle suspected of being involved in the fatal shooting of a woman identified as the mother of organized criminal 'Bako Saman'. The vehicle was discovered abandoned near a culvert in a tea estate located in the Dambahala Polwatta area along the Urubokka–Matara road, following a tip-off received by local police.
The shooting occurred on Tuesday evening when two unidentified men arrived at a residence in Ulahitiya, Middeiniya, and opened fire before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported to Middeiniya Hospital but died from her injuries. Police investigators believe a pistol-type firearm was used in the attack.
At present, the motive behind the killing remains undetermined. The investigation is ongoing as police work to identify the two gunmen and establish the circumstances that led to the shooting. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and authorities continue to gather evidence as part of their inquiry.
