Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa has completed questioning at the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division following a summons related to an investigation into hotel acquisition funding.
Namal Rajapaksa, the National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and Member of Parliament, departed the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) on Wednesday after providing a statement to investigators. His appearance came in response to a summons issued by the FCID earlier this week.
Rajapaksa arrived at the FCID headquarters in the morning and spent approximately five hours providing his statement to officers, according to reports from the scene. The questioning was conducted as part of an ongoing investigation by the division into financial matters.
According to NewsFirst, the investigation centers on the purchase of the Tangalle Bay Hotel, with authorities examining the source of funds used in the transaction. NewsFirst reported that the acquisition involved funds obtained through Channel CSN, though the precise nature of the investigation and its scope remain unclear from available reports.
Rajapaksa's summons represents the latest development in what appears to be a financial crimes inquiry. The MP cooperated with the FCID's request and completed his statement without incident before leaving the facility. No official statement has been issued regarding the contents of his testimony or the current status of the investigation.
