Police are searching for a Chinese national in connection with the abduction and death of another Chinese citizen that occurred in Colombo Port City in July. Two suspects have already been arrested.

Sri Lankan authorities are actively seeking a Chinese national wanted in relation to the death of another Chinese citizen following an assault in the Colombo Port City area. The incident occurred on July 23, 2026, when three Chinese nationals were attacked, with one subsequently abducted and killed, according to police statements.

The Colombo District Crime Division initiated investigations after establishing links between three Chinese nationals and the crime. Law enforcement has made progress in apprehending suspects, with two individuals aged 35 and 43 arrested on August 28 at a lodge in the Sigiriya Police area. These two detainees are scheduled to appear before the Colombo Magistrate's Court.

Police continue their efforts to locate the third suspect and have appealed to the public for assistance.
