The Presidential Secretariat Welfare Association organised its first 'Paramitha' blood donation campaign on Friday, collecting 163 pints of blood and exceeding its initial target of 150 pints.
The Presidential Secretariat Welfare Association, in partnership with the National Blood Transfusion Service, launched the inaugural 'Paramitha' blood donation campaign at the SEMA Auditorium of the Presidential Secretariat on Friday. The initiative was undertaken as part of the association's broader annual programme focused on welfare and community-oriented social responsibility.
The six-hour blood collection drive, which ran from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m., successfully gathered 163 pints of blood for the National Blood Transfusion Service. This result surpassed the campaign's original target of 150 pints, marking a positive outcome for the first iteration of the programme.
The event was held under the oversight of Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the President and Chairman of the Presidential Secretariat Welfare Association. Other key participants included Attorney-at-Law Samith Thalakiriyawa, who serves as Secretary of the Welfare Association and Assistant Secretary to the President, along with Damith Wickramaratne, the association's Treasurer and Chief Accountant of the President's Fund. The campaign also drew attendance from medical and nursing personnel from the National Blood Transfusion Service, Presidential Secretariat officials, and members of the 'Paramitha 2026' organising committee.
