Reconstruction work has begun on the Pallama section of the Bangadeniya–Anamaduwa road following recent disaster-related damage, with over Rs. 150 million allocated for the project.
Road restoration efforts commenced on August 10 on the Pallama section of the Bangadeniya–Anamaduwa road, which sustained significant damage during recent adverse conditions. The Road Development Authority has secured funding exceeding Rs. 150 million to address the deteriorated stretches and restore reliable transportation access to the area.
The project was formally initiated under the direction of Chandana Abeyratne, Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, who also chairs the Puttalam District Development Committee. The launch ceremony included attendance from MP Gayan Janaka, district officials, the Pallama Divisional Secretary, and representatives from the Road Development Authority.
According to the Ministry of Public Administration, the Bangadeniya–Anamaduwa route serves as a critical transportation corridor for the region's residents and supports important economic and social connectivity. Officials expect the reconstruction work to alleviate transport challenges faced by commuters and enhance regional connectivity within Puttalam District.
