The University of Peradeniya has lifted its temporary academic suspension and resumed normal operations after severe rainy weather forced a closure earlier this month.
The University of Peradeniya has resumed all academic activities following a suspension that began on August 3rd due to severe weather conditions affecting the region. According to Vice-Chancellor Senior Professor Terrence Madhujith, the restart of classes and academic programmes commenced on August 10th.
Residential students were permitted to return to university hostels beginning August 9th, one day prior to the full resumption of academic activities. The phased reopening allowed students time to settle back into on-campus accommodation before classes recommenced.
The suspension had impacted all academic operations at the university during the period of inclement weather. The decision to temporarily halt activities was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and welfare of students and staff during the adverse weather period.
