Sri Lanka's cabinet approved multiple initiatives on Tuesday including lottery ticket printing contracts worth 580 million rupees, a 200 million dollar Asian Development Bank loan for post-cyclone reconstruction, and strategic enterprise designations for three Colombo Port City companies.
Sri Lanka's cabinet of ministers has authorized several significant policy and commercial decisions. The National Lotteries Board awarded lottery ticket printing contracts totaling 580.12 million rupees to two companies following a bidding process. The State Printing Corporation received contracts for four lottery games—Govisetha, NLB Handahana, Mega Power, and Dhana Nidhanaya—valued at 356.1 million rupees, while Ceylon Business Appliances was granted contracts for Ada Sampatha, NLB Jaya, and Subha Davasak worth 224.02 million rupees. The bidding process attracted five proposals.
In response to damage from Cyclone Ditwah, Sri Lanka signed a 200 million dollar financing agreement with the Asian Development Bank to support a five-year reconstruction and livelihood recovery program. The funds will support rehabilitation of cyclone-damaged roads with enhanced climate resilience, restoration of irrigation systems, and housing and livelihood assistance for affected families. The Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development will oversee implementation of the project, which targets vulnerable rural, coastal, and upcountry communities that suffered crop losses, livestock destruction, and damaged infrastructure.
The cabinet also approved presenting gazette notifications to Parliament designating three companies as Primary Enterprises of Strategic Importance within the Colombo Port City. Marina Hotel Holdings received this designation in March, while Prime Melva Port City and Homelands Port City were approved in May. The designations were formally published in the gazette in April and May respectively, and must now be presented to Parliament to fulfill statutory requirements under the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Act.
