The Shoppes at City of Dreams Sri Lanka has announced the arrival of Scope Cinemas, a five-screen multiplex featuring next-generation cinema technology and exclusive VIP halls, scheduled to open on Level 10 before the end of 2026.
The Shoppes at City of Dreams Sri Lanka announced on 29 July the incoming arrival of Scope Cinemas Multiplex, marking a significant expansion of the integrated lifestyle destination since its opening in August 2025. The new cinema complex, scheduled for Level 10, will feature five screens alongside two exclusive VIP cinema halls, each with private lobbies and curated dining offerings.
According to venue officials, Scope Cinemas will introduce cinema technology and immersive viewing experiences previously unavailable in Sri Lanka's market. The multiplex is being positioned as a flagship anchor attraction designed to complement the destination's existing retail, dining and entertainment offerings. The announcement comes as The Shoppes enters its next phase of development, with additional levels and attractions planned for rollout.
Kamal Munasinghe, Senior Vice President of Colombo Hotels at City of Dreams Sri Lanka, stated that the cinema represents a continuation of the destination's broader vision to create integrated entertainment experiences that encourage extended visits. Naveed Cader, Chairman and CEO of Scope Cinemas, described the partnership as bringing international-standard cinema experiences to Sri Lankan audiences.
The announcement coincided with The Shoppes hosting the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day on 29 July, which the venue promoted as Sri Lanka's largest film premiere event. The celebration featured Sri Lanka's first Spider-Man-inspired drone show. Currently, Levels 7 and 8 of The Shoppes are operational, with the ground floor waterfront level and Levels 9 and 10 remaining under development. Future openings are expected to introduce additional food court options and nightlife venues.
