Police have arrested Vindani Priyadarshani Suriyarachchi, known as 'Thotalanga Poddi,' as part of an investigation into assets allegedly purchased with proceeds from drug trafficking activities.

The Illegal Assets Investigation Division has arrested Vindani Priyadarshani Suriyarachchi, a woman known by the alias 'Thotalanga Poddi,' in connection with an ongoing investigation into illicit drug-related finances. According to police, the arrest forms part of a broader inquiry examining assets that officials believe were acquired using money generated through narcotics trafficking operations.

Authorities have already taken action against properties suspected to be connected to the case. Police confirmed that assets valued at approximately Rs. 87.3 million have been frozen and rendered inoperative pending the investigation's conclusion. These properties are believed to have been purchased using funds linked to drug trafficking activities.

Suriyarachchi is expected to be produced before court as the investigation continues. The case falls under the purview of the Illegal Assets Investigation Division, which focuses on identifying and recovering assets obtained through unlawful means.
