Sri Lanka's premier domestic tennis championship will run from August 7 to 23, 2026, attracting exceptional interest with more than 1,000 player entries across multiple categories and age groups.
The 111th edition of the Sri Lanka Tennis Nationals will take place at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association headquarters in Colombo next month, continuing a tradition dating back over a century. The championship represents the country's most prestigious domestic tennis competition and occupies a central position in Sri Lanka's annual sporting calendar.
Despite limiting main draw participation to 64 players per event, the tournament has received over 1,000 entries, indicating sustained interest in the competition. The event continues to draw Sri Lankan expatriate players who return annually to compete in what remains the nation's leading domestic tennis platform. The championship features a broad competitive structure encompassing Junior, Open, Senior, and Wheelchair Tennis categories, creating opportunities for players across different age groups and abilities.
The Junior Championships will include Boys' and Girls' competitions in Singles and Doubles formats across Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18 age brackets. The Open Championships encompasses Men's and Women's Singles and Doubles events, along with Mixed Doubles competition. Prize money totaling approximately Rs. 1 million will be distributed across Open events. Stephen Raj Pathmanathan will serve as Tournament Director, with Ms. Shehara Madawala overseeing proceedings as Tournament Referee.
YETI Ndurance (Private) Limited has secured the title sponsorship role, while Trident Distributors, representing Wilson in Sri Lanka, provides official ball sponsorship. The Wilson US Open will serve as the official tournament ball. The championships are rooted in Sri Lankan tennis history extending to the establishment of the Ceylon Lawn Tennis Association in 1915, and continue to serve as a pathway for emerging talent seeking to establish themselves at the highest domestic level.
