A 24-year-old man has died after being attacked with a sharp weapon during a group confrontation in Galle on August 28. Police have arrested two suspects and are continuing their investigation.

A fatal clash between two groups in the Galwala area of the Galle Police Division has resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man, according to police reports. The victim sustained severe injuries from a sharp weapon attack during the August 28 incident and was transported to Galle Hospital, where he subsequently died from his injuries.

Two additional individuals injured in the same confrontation are also receiving treatment at Galle Hospital. Initial police investigations suggest the clash stemmed from a longstanding personal dispute between the two groups that escalated into violence.

Authorities have taken two suspects into custody in connection with the incident. The suspects, aged 19 and 29, are residents of the Walawwatta area. The Galle Police Division continues to gather evidence and conduct further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal encounter.
