The Department of Meteorology has warned of rain in several provinces and districts on Thursday, alongside winds reaching up to 40 kilometers per hour in multiple regions.
Sri Lanka is expected to experience scattered rainfall and strong winds on Thursday, according to forecasts issued by the Department of Meteorology. Showers are anticipated in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts throughout the day. The North-western Province is likely to see multiple spells of rain.
Additional precipitation is possible in the Uva Province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2 p.m., though most other areas are expected to remain relatively dry. Meanwhile, fairly strong winds of around 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are forecast to occur intermittently across the western slopes of the Central Hills, as well as the Northern, North-central, North-western, and Southern provinces. The Trincomalee and Matale districts are also expected to experience similar wind conditions.
The Meteorology Department has advised the public to exercise caution in response to potentially severe localized winds and lightning strikes that may accompany thundershowers in affected areas.
