Police have arrested two suspects accused of stealing construction equipment valued at approximately Rs. 1.2 million from a residential property under construction in the Tekkawatta area of Kamburugoda.
Two individuals have been taken into custody following the theft of construction materials from a two-storey house under development in Tekkawatta, Kamburugoda. The stolen items, valued at around Rs. 1.2 million, comprised window and door frames, bathroom fittings, and handrails that had been brought to the construction site.
According to police reports, the suspects allegedly broke into the property, removed the equipment, and transported the items to their residences. Both individuals are residents of the same locality where the theft occurred. Investigators have managed to recover some of the stolen goods, which had already been sold at reduced prices prior to their retrieval.
The two suspects are scheduled to appear before the Panadura Magistrate's Court to face charges related to the incident. The Bandaragama Police are continuing their investigation into the matter to determine whether additional items remain unrecovered or if further charges may be warranted.
