Police have apprehended two suspects caught trying to throw parcels containing drugs and other prohibited items over the wall of Magazine Prison in Colombo.

Law enforcement officers arrested two individuals on the evening of the 8th while they were attempting to deliver drugs and contraband to inmates at Magazine Prison in Borella. The suspects were caught near the side wall of the facility on Baseline Road during a police operation targeting illicit supply activities at the prison.

When officers inspected the parcels the suspects were attempting to throw over the wall, they discovered a significant cache of prohibited items. The seized materials included approximately 22 grams and 250 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine known as 'Ice', 2 milligrams of hashish, 250 grams of tobacco leaves, two mobile phone chargers, two pairs of earrings, ten lighters, and two mobile phones.

Both suspects are 29-year-old residents of Colombo 14. Borella Police have taken custody of the contraband and are continuing their investigation into the matter. The arrested individuals are scheduled to appear before the Maligakanda Magistrate's Court on the 9th to face charges related to drug smuggling and attempting to introduce prohibited items into a correctional facility.
