A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of carrying out an armed attack in the Dehiwala area earlier this month.

Law enforcement officers have apprehended a 23-year-old male suspect believed to be responsible for an attempted shooting in the Dehiwala locality. The arrest was conducted on August 10 by personnel from the Special Task Force stationed at Jayawardenapura Camp, who located and detained the suspect in the Habarakada area within the Athurugiriya Police Division.

The accused is suspected of involvement in a firearm-related attempted murder that occurred on August 4 along Kadawatha Road in the Dehiwala Police Division. Following the arrest, the suspect was transferred to Dehiwala Police Station to face further questioning and investigation procedures.

According to police records, the suspect is a resident of Homagama. The Dehiwala Police Division continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and gather additional evidence related to the case.
