Authorities in India have recovered seven unidentified bodies thought to be victims of severe flooding in Nepal, found in rivers that cross into Indian territory.
Seven bodies presumed to be victims of Nepal's recent flash floods have been discovered in Indian waters across the border, according to reporting from NewsWire. Four of the bodies were located in Maharajganj district, while an additional three were found in Kushinagar district, approximately 70 kilometers downstream from the Nepal-India border.
Indian officials attribute the presence of the bodies to the force of floodwaters that swept the victims across the international boundary into Uttar Pradesh. The powerful surge of water during Nepal's flooding event apparently carried the individuals downstream into Indian territory.
Currently, all seven bodies remain unidentified as authorities work to establish their identities and notify families. Officials in both countries are coordinating efforts to manage the recovery and identification process.
