DFCC Bank PLC has completed its acquisition of Standard Chartered Bank Sri Lanka's Wealth and Retail Banking division, marking a significant expansion of the local lender's retail operations and customer base. The transaction encompasses approximately 50,000 customers along with staff from the divested business, and includes priority banking services, credit cards, retail lending, deposits, wealth management portfolios, and small and medium enterprise offerings.

To minimize disruption during the transition, DFCC Bank has maintained several key customer conveniences. Existing Standard Chartered account numbers remain active alongside new DFCC Bank account numbers, while credit and debit cards, personal identification numbers, standing instructions, direct debits, and recurring payment arrangements continue functioning without interruption. The bank has also transferred saved payees and beneficiaries to its digital platforms, DFCC ONE and DFCC iConnect, to reduce the typical inconveniences associated with banking transitions. Customers with established relationships through specific branches and relationship managers can continue banking through the same channels.

DFCC Bank Chief Executive Officer Thimal Perera described the transition as the result of a complex technology programme supported by extensive planning and collaboration between both organizations. The bank now offers acquired customers access to over 130 branches nationwide and approximately 5,000 ATMs through the LankaPay network, in addition to its digital banking services and premium banking proposition for eligible customers. Standard Chartered's Chief Executive Officer Bingumal Thewarathanthri characterized the sale as aligned with the global parent company's strategic focus on markets where it maintains necessary scale and competitive advantage.

Customers seeking assistance with the transition can contact DFCC Bank's 24-hour customer service line at +94 11 235 0000, visit any branch, or access information through the bank's website.
