Walt Disney and TikTok have announced a groundbreaking agreement allowing TikTok creators to incorporate Disney intellectual property into short-form videos, marking the first collaboration of its kind between the social media platform and a major traditional media company.

The partnership between Disney and TikTok represents a significant shift in how established entertainment companies are engaging with short-form video platforms. Under the arrangement, creators on TikTok will gain access to content from hundreds of Disney films and television series, including material from Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and FX. Selected videos created through this collaboration will appear on both TikTok and Disney's streaming service, Disney+, according to statements from both companies.

The companies indicated that Disney+ will feature these videos in a dedicated "Verts" tab designed to appeal to younger audiences who prefer consuming content in vertical format on mobile devices. This marks the first instance of TikTok videos being distributed on another platform. A pilot program is scheduled to begin in the United States in the coming months, with potential expansion to additional markets planned for later.

The deal reflects broader industry trends as streaming services increasingly adopt vertical video formats. Competitors including Peacock and Paramount+ have already introduced vertical series, while Netflix offers short-form content through its Clips feature. Disney executives framed the partnership as an opportunity to reach viewers who discover entertainment through social platforms. According to TikTok data cited in the announcement, users shared approximately 6.5 million film and television-related posts daily in the previous year, with nearly half of surveyed viewers reporting they watched movies or shows after encountering related TikTok content.

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed by either party.
