Rihanna appears to be preparing to end her eight-year hiatus from album releases, with her partner A$AP Rocky confirming the artist is currently in the studio working on new material.
Rihanna may finally be breaking her extended absence from the recording studio, according to remarks made by her partner A$AP Rocky during a recent podcast appearance. Speaking on The Jason Lee podcast, Rocky indicated that the Barbadian artist is actively engaged in music production, stating that she is "in the studio right now" and "cooking," using the colloquial term to suggest creative progress. He also clarified that the pair would not be collaborating on a joint album project.
The potential new music would mark Rihanna's return to full album releases after nearly a decade. Her last studio album, "Anti," was released in 2016, though she has since contributed songs to film projects, most notably "Lift Me Up" for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022. In a previous interview with Harper's Bazaar last February, Rihanna expressed optimism about the project, stating she had "finally cracked it" but acknowledged her commitment to quality, noting that after such a long wait, it was better to delay further than release substandard material.
During the podcast interview, Rocky appeared somewhat apologetic about revealing information about Rihanna's musical activities, joking that he would "get in trouble for this." When asked whether his presence as a partner and father to their three children had influenced her album timeline, he denied being responsible for the delay. Beyond confirming the studio work, few additional details about the project were disclosed.
Meanwhile, Rihanna has remained highly visible through her business ventures, establishing herself as a billionaire entrepreneur with successful ventures in cosmetics and fashion, including her widely popular Fenty Beauty line.
