Over 350 board directors and business leaders gathered at the Sri Lanka Corporate Director Summit 2026, where Deloitte contributed strategic insights on navigating technological change and strengthening corporate governance in an evolving business landscape.
The Sri Lanka Corporate Director Summit 2026, held at Cinnamon Grand Colombo, brought together more than 350 board directors, senior business leaders and governance professionals alongside over 15 international thought leaders. Organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors, the event coincided with the institute's 25th anniversary of advancing corporate governance and board leadership in the country.
Deloitte Sri Lanka served as the Strategic Partner for the summit, which operated under the theme "Future-Ready Sri Lankan Boards – From Compliance to Sustainable Growth." The consulting firm contributed to multiple sessions through keynote addresses, panel discussions and moderation roles, offering perspectives on critical boardroom priorities.
A central focus was the responsibility of corporate boards in managing technological disruption. Duleesha Kulasooriya, Asia Pacific Innovation Leader at Deloitte Center for the Edge, delivered the keynote on governing artificial intelligence and digital risk. He stressed that organisations face competitive risks by not adopting AI, while cautioning that technological advantage ultimately depends on leadership quality rather than geographic location. Kulasooriya identified curiosity, curation and courage as essential leadership attributes, positioning good governance as foundational to responsible innovation.
Additional Deloitte leaders addressed interconnected governance challenges. Jehil Thakkar provided regional context on how boards can respond to rapid change and evolving stakeholder expectations, emphasising clear communication and stakeholder trust. Other sessions explored how boards can move beyond compliance to provide strategic direction, and how workforce strategy and organisational culture have become critical boardroom considerations amid skills shortages and technological transformation.
Deloitte's involvement reflected broader recognition that effective board leadership remains essential as organisations navigate shifting economic, technological and societal conditions to build resilience and create sustainable value.
