Borella Police have arrested two suspects in relation to a July 23 attempted murder shooting in Kuppiyawatta, Dematagoda, with one suspect found in possession of narcotics during the arrest.
Law enforcement authorities have taken two Borella residents into custody following an investigation into an attempted shooting murder that occurred in the Kuppiyawatta area of Dematagoda on July 23. The arrests mark a significant development in the case, which involved an apparent assault by two unidentified men.
The primary suspect, a 23-year-old Borella resident, was apprehended during a police raid in the Lake Drive area on August 5. During the operation, officers discovered approximately 10.900 grams of ICE narcotics in his possession. According to Borella Police, investigative work has connected this individual to the July incident, where he allegedly served as the motorcycle rider for the two men who attempted to shoot their intended target.
A second suspect, aged 24 and also from the Borella area, was arrested alongside the primary suspect on suspicion of involvement in the shooting attempt. However, authorities have not yet clarified his specific role in the incident. Police stated that ongoing inquiries are being conducted to establish the extent of his participation in the crime and determine potential charges.
The investigation remains active, with law enforcement working to identify the two unidentified men who allegedly carried out the shooting attempt and to establish motives behind the incident.
