David Pieris Automobiles has launched the BAIC X3e, a fully electric crossover SUV, at the Auto Vision Motor Show 2026, with prices starting from Rs. 11.5 million, aiming to make electric mobility more accessible to Sri Lankan consumers.

David Pieris Automobiles unveiled the BAIC X3e electric crossover SUV at the Auto Vision Motor Show 2026 held at the BMICH, positioning the vehicle as an affordable entry point for Sri Lankan drivers considering the transition to electric mobility. The company has branded the launch around the campaign "The EV That Makes Life Easy," emphasizing the vehicle's combination of technology, practicality and value proposition.

The BAIC X3e comes equipped with several contemporary features designed to appeal to practical-minded buyers. These include a spacious, family-oriented interior, a smart digital cockpit with connectivity capabilities, Level 2 driver assistance systems, fast charging functionality, and an intelligent auto parking system. The vehicle prioritizes safety with comprehensive features and efficient electric performance tailored for everyday driving conditions.

The electric SUV is available in two variants at introductory pricing: the BAIC X3e Pro at Rs. 11.5 million and the BAIC X3e Max at Rs. 12 million. According to Mahesh Gunathilake, Director of David Pieris Automobiles, the vehicle targets customers seeking electric mobility without sacrificing comfort or affordability. The company has established a dedicated support infrastructure including a fully-fledged BAIC workshop at Hyde Park Corner in Colombo, with additional showrooms in Battaramulla, Kurunegala, Matara, Ratnapura and Kandy, complemented by an islandwide dealer and service network offering genuine spare parts, maintenance and technical assistance.
